by Qingyu Zhao, Zusen Wang
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 251-252; published online 5 June 2016
Abstract: We report on a case of heterotopic gastric mucosa i in the
gallbladder neck. A 45-year-old woman, who had been recurrent
vomiting 5 months, visited our hospital because of a
occupying lesion in the gallbladder, discovered by the
abdominal ultrasonography. Ultrasonography revealed a highly
echogenic lesion in the gallbladder neck, with gallstones in
the gallbladder. The gallbladder was confirmed by the CEUS
(ultrasound contrast ). Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was
performed because of the possibility of the gallbladder
carcinoma. The excised gallbladder measured 5 x 4 cm and was
found one thickening part which was in size of 1.0 x 1.0cm.
Pathologically, the polypoid lesion consisted of heterotopic
gastric mucosa.

by Miaomiao Zhu, Jianhui Tian
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 253-256; published online 5 June 2016
Abstract:
This paper aims to study the expression of inflammatory
cytokines in plasma of patients with essential hypertension
and antihypertensive effect of olmesartan patients with
essential hypertension and the effect on plasma inflammatory
factors. Will be in accordance with the guidelines of
hypertension prevention and control standard collection of
100 cases of primary hypertension patients, randomly and
evenly divided for 2 groups into the experimental group and
the control group, and given a dose of olmesartan and
valsartan treatment for 10 weeks. Before and after treatment
were measured with sitting or lying right brachial artery
blood pressure and fasting 12 hours of venous blood, were
observed and compared before and after treatment patients
with blood pressure and serum inflammatory factors changes.
Treated with oral medication after 10 weeks experimental
group and control group, the blood pressure decreased
significantly, the difference was statistically significant
(P <0.01) compared with that before treatment, and the blood
pressure of the olmesartan group decrease slightly greater
than in the valsartan group, but the difference between the
two groups was no significant (P> 0.05); compared with
before treatment, hs-CRP, TNF-α levels were significantly
decreased, NO levels were increased, compared to before
treatment the two groups were statistically significant (P
<0.01), And olmesartan plasma levels of inflammatory factors
decline slightly larger than valsartan group, hs-CRP changes
between the two groups showed no significant difference (P>
0.05), while TNF-α and NO levels between the two groups the
difference was statistically significant (P <0.01).
Olmesartan smoothly and effectively lower blood pressure,
and can be more effective in reducing the degree of
abnormality of plasma levels of inflammatory factors
expression.

Article: Evaluation of bone remodeling ability in transalveolar elevation osteomes with two different methods—without or with coral bone substitute
by Shan Shen, Chunlei Zhang, Jingxia Tang
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 257-261; published online 6 June 2016
Abstract:
To evaluate the degree of osteogenesis achieved by using a
coral bone substitute and a space holding device in
transalveolar maxillary sinus floor elevation procedures. 33
patients were received treatment with a maxillary posterior
implant in the Dental Medical Center of the First Affiliated
Hospital of Jinan University between January 2013 and June
2014. The vertical bone defect in the implant region was 3.8
mm on average in all patients. The 33 patients were randomly
classified into two groups: the simple closed maxillary
sinus augmentation group (n=17) and the closed maxillary
sinus augmentation group with the coral bone substitute
(n=16). A total of 40 dental implants (Dentium, Korea) were
implanted: 20 were used for the simple closed maxillary
sinus augmentation and 20 were used with the coral bone
substitute. Neoplastic bone formation was significantly less
in patients that underwent simple closed maxillary
augmentation compared with those that underwent the closed
maxillary augmentation with the coral-based bone scaffold
(P<0.01). In closed maxillary sinus augmentation, a
coral-based bone scaffold allows us to predict the bone
volume and promotes osteogenesis compared to implants
without a bone substitute.

Article: The Significance of NBI-ME on Chronic Gastritis with Intestinal Metaplasia
by Yan Wang, Tao Mao, Qingxi Zhao
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 262-265; published online 28 June 2016
Abstract:
In order to prevent the occurrence of gastric cancer, it is
very important to find early gastric cancer and precancerous
lesions timely. This research discussed diagnostic value of
methylene blue staining under white light endoscopy, light
blue crest (LBC) and white opaque substance (WOS) under NBI-ME
on chronic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia. 227
patients who accepted gastroscopy in our hospital and met
the inclusion criteria were selected. Olympus GIF-HQ290
electronic gastroscope was applied to finish examination
under the common white light mode, to observe whether there
was LBC and WOS under the NBI-ME mode and to observe whether
there was baby blue staining area under the methylene blue
staining. Biopsy mucosae were conducted on the diseased
region. Biopsy histopathology was diagnosed as a “golden
standard”. Moreover, the relation between special
performance and pathology of intestinal metaplasia under
three endoscopes was compared. 227 patients were examined,
showing that sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive
value and negative predictive value of methylene blue were
97.01%, 98.75%, 97.01% and 98.75%, respectively. These of
LBC were 80.60%, 97.50%, 93.10% and 92.31%, and these of WOS
were 82.09%, 96.88, 91.67% and 92.81%. All of them conducted
a chi-square test with pathological results and P>0.05.
Three kinds of special performance under the endoscope had
higher consistency with pathological results. Three kinds of
special performance under the endoscope had higher
consistency with pathological results. Methylene blue
staining under the gastroscope, LBC under NBI-ME and WOS can
be used as a simple and effective method to judge whether
there is intestinal metaplasia.

Article: Biology of hepatocellular carcinoma restrained through tumor infiltrating macrophages
by Dongxia Wu, Xinxin He, Ximing Shen
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 266-269; published online 25 July 2016
Abstract:
To study the biology of hepatocellular carcinoma restrained
through tumor infiltrating macrophages. Mononuclear cells
were isolated from healthy adult peripheral blood by density
gradient centrifugation and inducedwith IL-4 for selective
activation of macrophagesin vitro. Hepatocellular carcinoma
cell line HepG2 were cultivate with selective activation of
macrophages (M2) for 48h. The Liver cancer cell clone
formation were determined by the clone tablet form
experiment, and then Using scratches test observed the
changes of cells infiltrating migrating ability. We
Successful separation cultivate tumor giant cells. In vitro
microenvironment of liver cancer, M2 can significantly
promote the HepG2 cell proliferation and clone formation
ability (P<0.05) after co-culture with M2 for 24 hours. The
process of cell infiltration and migration were also
promoted too (P < 0.05). Tumor associated macrophages can
promote liver cancer cell invasion and migration. If
changing the microenvironment of liver cancer, it can also
control the malignant biological behavior of tumors.

Article: Influences of siRNA on biology of hepatocellular carcinoma by specific silencing protein of PI3K/AKt signal pathway
by Xiaofeng Yuan, Xiaojun Hu
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 270-273; published online 25 July 2016
Abstract:
To study the Influences of siRNA on Biology of
hepatocellular carcinoma by specific silencing protein in
PI3K/AKt signal pathway, further to explore the molecular
mechanism of PI3K/AKt signal pathway in the development of
hepatocellular carcinoma. PI3K-siRNA and AKT-siRNA were
transfected into hepatocellular carcinoma cells line
MHCC-97H respectively by lipofectermine 3000, and the PI3K
and Akt protein expression level in liver cancer MHCC-97H
cells were detected with Western blotting method, while the
Liver cancer cell proliferation and cell cycle change were
determined by Transwell invasion and flow cytometry. After
transfection, PI3K, and Akt protein level were significantly
decreased. siRNA can significantly decrease levels of PI3K
and Akt protein in MHCC-97H cell lines, and can
significantly inhibit the MHCC-97H cell proliferation and
the process of cell cycle. It was also can promoted
apoptosis (P< 0.05). siRNA can specific silencing protein of
PI3K/AKt signal pathway, and to control the malignant
biological behavior of tumors. PI3K/AKt signal pathway can
become a new target for clinical treatment.

Article: Analysis on high-risk factors of lesion residual after undergoing conization of cervix
by Hongfei Xie, Yankui Wang
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 274-279; published online 25 July 2016
Abstract:
To prevent cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and
relapse of cervical cancer, we have to analyze the high-risk
factors of lesion residual after undergoing conization of
cervix. Regression analysis upon data of clinical case of
267 patients after undergoingcold knife conization of cervix
of two times will be carried out, in order to analyze the
high-risk factors of lesion residual after operation. There
are 74 patients with lesion residual after undergoing cold
knife conization among the 267 patients. Result of
single-factor analysis shows that involved gland (P=0.003),
involved number of quadrant of cervix uteri >2 (P=0.006) and
incisal margin involvement (P=0.002) are all relevant
factors of lesion residual after undergoing conization of
cervix. The result shows that positive incisal margin after
operation is the independent risk factor (P=0.022) for
lesion residual after Logistic regression analysis upon
relevant factor has been implemented. Involved gland,
involved number of quadrant >2 and incisal margin
involvement are high-risk factors of lesion residual after
undergoing conization of cervix, among which the incisal
margin involvement has to be paid much attention.

Article: Meta-analysis of relationship between pathological substaging and prognosis of superficial bladder cancer
by Xin Yan, Qinchao Yu
Cancer Cell Research 2016 3(11) 280-285; published online 28 July 2016
Abstract:
To systematically evaluate the value of pathological
substaging of different superficial bladder cancer. This is
a meta-analysis of retrospective cohort studies. The main
outcome measures were progression and recurrence percentage.
Computer-based online search was carried out in EMBASE,
PubMed, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure),
Wanfang and Google Scholar and case-control studies related
to the application of pathological subtstaging in the
prognosis of superficial bladder cancer. The quality of the
studies included was assessed by Newcastle-ottawa scale.
Data were extracted from the studies by two independent
reviewers. The Meta-analysis was performed by following the
specific steps described in Stata 12.0 A total of 14
case-control studies involving 2388 patients were included.
These 14 studies were divided into three groups (T1mVS T1e,
T1aVST1bc and T1abVST1c) according to the different
substages of bladder cancer. There were no statistically
significant differences in the association of pathological
substaging with disease recurrence, while two groups showed
statistically significant difference in the association of
pathological substaging with disease progression (T1m VS
T1e, HR=2.27, 95%CI=1.44-3.69, T1aVS T1BC, HR=2.22, HR
95%CI=1.68-2.95>1, suggesting statistical significance). For
normuscle invasive bladder cancer, different substages of
bladder cancer had no significant differences in the
association of pathological substaging with disease
recurrence, but two groups showed statistically significant
differences in in the association of pathological substaging
with disease progression. This suggests that the new methods
of pathological substaging have a positive meaning for
predicting the progression of bladder cancer. However, we
still need larger prospective clinical randomized controlled
trials to confirm our conclusion.
